I was at one of my stops last Friday and I saw this really overweight man walking across the parking lot holding his Big Gulp and giant bag of goodies. He looked so depressed and I could tell he was just miserable. I had to stop him and ask him how he was doing. He gave me one of those, “aight” replies and kept on moving. I wasnt done with him yet. “FedEx Custom Critical; how’s that job treating you?” I barked. He stopped in his tracks and turned around. He said, ” You know, I am doing a job I hate and never wanted to do but my dad asked me for temporary help and 8 years later I am still doing it.” I asked him why he was still doing it then. He went on to explain that his father and him were planning on opening a metal working shop that he’s always dreamed of and hopefully in 4 years he would start it up.

I said, “why wait? If you want it you need to do it now.” The driver did the international money rub of the fingers and said “Money.” I replied, “If you truly want it then you’ll find a way to make it happen. Why waste time? If you spend another 4 years in that truck will you really be ready? Life happens and you don’t know what emergencies, life events etc.that will take those “savings”along with your dreams to the cleaners. Plus your health. In 4 more years what will your health situation look like? If you truly want this do it NOW! Don’t let your life pass by saying you’ll change things in the future. The future is now. The money you need is available you just have to take the right action to get it.”

After my parking lot sermon he looked me straight in the eye and said, ” You’re right,” and turned to trot back to his truck. I don’t know if he moved faster because he was motivated or scared.
